We left a day earlier than planned due to a snow storm that was moving in the next morning. Went for a great breakfast at Eggs Oasis. left Calgary around 10:00 am. Heading south into a strong west wind but skies still sunny.
Stopped in Lethbridge aka L.A. at Safeway to buy lunch. Then headed towards the border. No problems getting across. Pulled up to the crossing it was a young red headed woman She only asked where we going and how long we would be in the States. That was it.
Stopped at the first rest station. There was a traffic/weather report playing in the restroom. Prediction was for snow south of Great Falls the following day. Yikes did not have my snow tires on. Had a good laugh at the signage warning people to beware of the wildlife in Montana. Made a stop for gas in Shelby
We didn't have a place booked for the night in Great Falls but found a decent Best Western right downtown. It was an older place but had underground parking heated parking. The restaurant, The Celtic Cowboy, that I had researched was a block away. Bonus! Had a great meal of Sheppards pie. There was a trivia night happening! I would have loved to have played but we were not staying. Had a fun cocktail. It was like a desert came with whipped cream which Suzanne gladly ate which left the booze for me!
Fun night to begin the trip. Back to the hotel for a good night's sleep.
